Novena to the Holy Spirit

As we prepare for Pentecost and its wonderful celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit, we invite you to join us in this special Novena of prayer. Jesus instructed His disciples to go back to Jerusalem and to wait in the city for the coming of the Holy Spirit. For nine days the followers of Jesus met for prayer behind closed doors and waited.

This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses to these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24:46-49)

A Novena is prayer said consecutively for nine days and usually for a personal intention. We are praying this Novena for healing throughout the world; for the Holy Spirit of truth to comfort those who mourn, bring health to the sick, wisdom to leaders and peace to troubled souls. May the fire of divine love penetrate each of our hearts and gift us with the grace to love as Jesus did, sacrificially and unconditionally.

“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you – they are full of the Spirit and life.” John 6:63

The Novena begins Friday 22nd May and concludes Saturday 30th May…Pentecost Vigil

During this time we will recite the Novena each evening 8:00-8:30pm and you are welcome to pray at home wherever you are or to join us online through video meeting (let us know if you would like to be included online).

“I have much more to say to you…But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.”

John 16:13
